Pada 1999, PT Honda Prospect Motor didirikan sebagai kerjasama antara Honda Motor, Co. Ltd. dan PT Prospect Motor. Guna memenuhi permintaan produk Honda yang meningkat di Indonesia, PT Honda Prospect Motor mendirikan pabrik keduanya pada 2012 yang mampu meningkatkan kapasitas produksi menjadi 200.000 unit per tahun. Saat ini, pabrik HPM memproduksi Honda Brio, Honda Mobilio, Honda BR-V, Honda Jazz, Honda HR-V, dan Honda CR-V. Dari tahun ke tahun, PT Honda Prospect Motor juga telah meningkatkan kandungan lokal pada produksinya hingga mencapai 89 persen di 2019. Selain melakukan produksi untuk dalam negeri, PT Honda Prospect Motor juga telah melakukan kegiatan ekspor ke berbagai negara. Ekspor komponen mobil pertama kali dilakukan melalui PT Prospect Motor sebagai distributor Honda pada 1992 ke berbagai negara seperti Jepang, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Filipina, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Meksiko dan Taiwan.
